Klodiana Spahiu officially took office as Health Minister after being voted through in Parliament with 79 votes in favor and sworn in before President Bajram Begaj. The move was formalized quickly, and immediately after the ceremony she took her seat at the government meeting table, on a day that also brought other changes in the cabinet.
Approval in Parliament and oath at the Presidency
According to the official announcement, Spahiu’s appointment was first sealed in Parliament, where she received 79 votes in favor. She then took the oath before the President of the Republic, officially taking over the leadership of the Ministry of Health.
The transition from the vote in Parliament to the oath at the Presidency took place without delay, in a procedure that immediately placed the new minister in full political and administrative function.
Replaces Evis Sala
Spahiu takes over the Health Ministry following the departure of Evis Sala. According to the explanation given for the resignation, Sala stepped down to dedicate herself to her projects in the academic field.
The change at one of the most sensitive ministries in the cabinet comes without, at least so far, broader political explanations about the new direction or the institution’s concrete priorities.
First appearance in government
Immediately after the swearing-in ceremony, Klodiana Spahiu took part in the government meeting. This was her first official appearance in the role of Health Minister.
Her immediate presence at the cabinet meeting showed the fast pace at which the government reshuffle is being carried out.
Other moves in the cabinet
Spahiu’s appointment was followed by other changes announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama on the same day. According to the announcement, Besfort Lamallari is leaving the post of Interior Minister.
He will be replaced by Ervin Demo, who until now held the post of Minister of Local Government. These moves signal another reorganization of the cabinet at key levels of governance.
