Malësi e Madhe: German man attacks two police officers with knife after report of gasoline thrown on car

The first report came from a 27-year-old man

According to the official statement, at around 5:30 p.m., a 27-year-old man with the initials A. Q. called the Shkodër Local Police Directorate operations room, stating that while driving from Hani i Hotit toward Shkodër, the driver of another vehicle is suspected of having thrown gasoline on his car.

The incident is said to have taken place near a fuel station, close to the border crossing point, making it even less clear how the situation escalated in an area with traffic and an increased presence of institutions.

Police say they located the vehicle in Pjetroshan

After the report, police services intervened and stopped the suspected vehicle in the village of Pjetroshan. According to the official version, behind the wheel was a 47-year-old German citizen with the initials J. K.

Police claim that the 47-year-old refused to identify himself at the time of the intervention, while the full circumstances of his contact with the patrol still remain without a more detailed public clarification.

Two officers were injured during the intervention

During the attempt to neutralize him, the 47-year-old is suspected of striking two General Patrol officers, inspectors S. B. and I. S., with a bladed instrument. Both were taken to hospital to receive medical assistance.

So far, no further information has been made public about their health condition, while police have limited themselves to stating that the officers received medical treatment after being injured.

The 47-year-old was escorted, investigation remains open

According to police, the suspect was neutralized and escorted to the premises of the Malësi e Madhe Police Station for procedural actions.

The investigative group is working to fully clarify the circumstances of the episode, from the initial report about gasoline on the vehicle to the clash with the officers. At this stage, most of what is known is based on the police version.

The incident raises questions not only about the dynamics of the initial conflict on the road, but also about how the intervention was handled on the ground.

For the moment, authorities have not provided additional details about the motive for the incident or about the evidence collected regarding the episode initially reported by the 27-year-old man.
