The money was found hidden in the headlight frame

According to Montenegrin border authorities, the money was placed inside the car’s headlight frame in a way suspected of being intended to evade border checks.

The case has drawn attention not only because of the amount seized, but also because of the unusual place where the money was hidden.

Five different currencies, including lek

During the inspection, authorities reported finding euros and several other currencies: Canadian dollars, Australian dollars, U.S. dollars, British pounds and Albanian lek.

The presence of several currencies in the same vehicle raises further questions about the source of the money and its route, although no official explanation has so far been given on this point.

Operation with Frontex, but no clarification on the source of the money

The operation, according to the Montenegrin side, was carried out in cooperation with Frontex, the European agency for the management of external borders.

However, authorities have not made public details about the origin of the money, its ownership or the reason why it was hidden in the vehicle.

Investigation expected to determine whether there is a link to illegality

At this stage, there is no official conclusion on whether the amount is linked to any illegal activity. That remains part of the investigation, which is expected to clarify the source of the money and the circumstances of its transport.

Until then, the case remains another episode raising serious doubts about the movement of cash across borders and the effectiveness of control filters in similar cases.

The seizure was made public with limited details, while the main questions remain unanswered: who the money belonged to, where it came from and where it was being transported.

For now, the only confirmed fact is that more than €55,000 in different currencies was found hidden in a vehicle during a border inspection in Montenegro.
