Four wildfire hotspots remain active in several areas of the country, while institutions are reporting a greater concentration of forces at points where the flames are persisting and the terrain is making intervention more difficult. According to the official version from the Ministry of Defense, the main focus is on Dajti–Qafë Priska, Vajkal in Bulqiza, and Lundra in Mat.

According to the operational update published by the Ministry of Defense up to 20:00 on August 31, 2026, a total of 12 wildfire hotspots were reported across the country. Of these, 4 remain active, 4 are under monitoring, and 4 others have been fully extinguished.
According to the authorities, 70 members of the Armed Forces and 3 helicopters from the Air Force have been deployed on the ground, alongside local structures, firefighters, and the management forces of protected areas.
Dajti, Bulqiza and Mat bear the main weight of the operation
In Dajt–Qafë Priskë, where a reactivation of the flames has also been reported, the Ministry says extinguishing work is continuing with 15 firefighters, 9 ADZM personnel, 20 members of the Armed Forces, and 1 helicopter.
In Vajkal, Bulqiza, the fire is continuing across a wide area of shrubs and juniper. According to official data, 53 personnel have been engaged there, including 30 members of the Armed Forces.
In Lundër, Mat, the fire is reported in forested areas and the intervention is being supported by 20 members of the Armed Forces and 1 helicopter. Meanwhile, an active hotspot also remains at Ura e Shtrenjtë in Shkodër, where steep terrain and the lack of roads, according to the authorities, are making intervention more difficult.
Which areas are under monitoring and which have been extinguished
Hotspots under monitoring are reported at Qafë të Helmës in Bulqiza, Qafa e Lugut in Vithkuq, Qukës mountain in Prrenjas, and Zhejë in Kurbin. In the case of Zhejë, authorities say the intervention was also supported by 3 fire engines and 1 helicopter, while no active hotspot is currently being reported there.
Fires reported as fully extinguished are in Sllatinë in Dibër, Ballenjë in Martanesh, Bershi–Kurdari–Patinë in Klos, and Dardha mountain in Librazhd.
Official claim: no risk to inhabited areas
In its statement, the Ministry of Defense says that, in general, no risk is being reported to inhabited areas near the active hotspots. However, the very distribution of forces and the use of aerial assets in several counties show that the situation remains sensitive in areas with difficult terrain and prolonged spread of the flames.
Authorities say the priority remains the protection of life, homes, and the environment, while the National Civil Protection Agency is coordinating actions with prefectures, municipalities, and other emergency structures.
For the moment, the main weight of the operation remains on Dajti, Vajkal, and Lundra, where the fire has still not been brought under control and where intervention is requiring a combination of ground and aerial forces.
The balance reported by the institutions shows a situation that remains open, despite announcements of extinguished hotspots and areas under control.
