A luxury Rolls-Royce vehicle has been seized in Lezhë, while authorities have opened an asset investigation into its owner. According to the official version, the measure was taken after checks on the vehicle’s documentation, ownership and the source of the income used to purchase it.
Increased checks on luxury vehicles
Lezhë police announced that they have intensified checks on luxury vehicles, claiming the aim is to identify vehicles that may have been obtained through criminal activity and to prevent their trafficking.
The operation, according to police, was carried out by the structures for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes, in cooperation with the Special Operational Force and the Traffic Police.
Checks on origin and ownership
The vehicle was found in the city of Lezhë and was then inspected by the authorities. According to the official statement, checks were carried out on the origin of the vehicle, as well as the history of its purchase, sale and possession.
The vehicle’s ownership was also a focus of the checks, along with the source of the income used to buy it.
Administrative seizure and investigation into owner
After the checks were completed, police say they imposed an administrative seizure on the Rolls-Royce for missing documentation.
At the same time, an asset investigation has been launched into the vehicle’s owner, the citizen identified by the initials F. M., a resident of the United Kingdom.
What police claim
According to police, the checks will continue in other cases as well, with a focus on luxury vehicles, as part of efforts to identify assets suspected of having a criminal origin.
However, at this stage, the official statement speaks of missing documentation and the launch of an asset investigation, without giving further details on any possible conclusions in the case.
The case in Lezhë once again turns attention to the way expensive assets enter, circulate and are justified, in an environment where official statements often provide only part of the story.
